In Otley, West Riding of Yorkshire, on January 4, 1958, Brenda gave birth to Sands, the third of five boys. After getting divorced, Brenda kept her sons by herself.

His brother Quentin was chosen by the publication “She” magazine as “Britain’s Sexiest Man” in 1998.

Twice in his life, Sands has been married. In 1984, he tied the knot with writer Sarah Harvey. On September 20, 1985, they welcomed a son, Henry Morley Sands.  And in 1987 saw the separation of Sands and Harvey.

He then went ahead to marry journalist Evgenia Citkowitz in 1990, the daughter of American composer-pianist Israel Citkowitz and socialite and Anglo-Irish author Lady Caroline Blackwood.

On August 14, 1996, Natalya Sands Citkowitz, the couple’s oldest child, was born. Imogen Citkowitz, the couple’s youngest child, was born on December 31, 1999.

Julian Sands has always had aspirations to be an actor ever since he was a young boy. Before enrolling in the famed Central School of Speech and Drama in London, he gained experience through acting in several school performances.

Sands’ early aspirations for his acting career included success in classical theatre. He is still active in both the UK and the US theater sectors, though that altered when invitations to participate in movies and TV shows started to flood in.
