Dapo Abiodun Biography:

Nigerian politician and businessman Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun, also known as Dapo Abiodun was born a Nigerian. As of 2019, he became the governor of Ogun State Nigeria. Under the APC’s platform, he prevailed in the general elections of 2019. He also served as the Corporate Affairs Commission’s board chairman.

Dapo Abiodun Personal Life:

The royal family of Iperu welcomed Abiodun into the world on May 29, 1960 in Iperu Remo, Ogun State. He was born in the Ogun East senatorial district of Iperu Remo into the family of Dr. Emmanuel Abiodun and Mrs. Victoria Abiodun.

It is unknown what Abiodun’s educational history is. In the run-up to the 2019 general elections, he was embroiled in a certificate scandal because he indicated on the 2015 senatorial election form for Ogun East that he had graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, but on the 2019 governorship form, he indicated that he only had a secondary school diploma.

He claimed to have attended the school, although he never received a diploma.

Dapo Abiodun Career:

Between 1989 and 1991, Dapo Abiodun worked as a cost accountant at Glock Inc. USA. Then, driven by his love for his country, he returned to Nigeria and started his entrepreneurial journey there.

He started a number of prosperous companies. He served as Chairman and/or Chief Executive of a number of reputable companies prior to taking office as Governor of Ogun State on May 29, 2019, including Crestar Hydrocarbons Limited, OMS-Heyden Exploration and Production Limited, Heyden Petroleum Limited, Alarmnet and Innovative Ventures Limited, and First Power Limited.

Dapo Abiodun Political Career:

After returning from the United States, he ran for and won the Ogun East Senate seat in 1998 on the platform of the now-defunct United Nigeria Congress Party, becoming the nation’s youngest senator-elect.

He did this in keeping with his commitment to the development of the State and love for his people. However, the Third Republic’s abortive political developments and the inauguration of the Third Republic’s elected political officeholders cut short the win.

He then became a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, on which platform he ran in the 2002 Ogun State governorship primary elections, he finally finished second to the ticket’s victor, who went on to win the general election.
