November 6, 1946 in Pasadena, California, Sally Field was welcomed into the world by her mom Margaret Field (née Morlan), an actress, and Richard Dryden Field her dad, who’s an Army veteran of World War II.
Field was a cheerleader as a student at Van Nuys’ Birmingham High School and Portola Middle School. Michael Milken, a banker, Cindy Williams, an actress, and Michael Ovitz, a talent agency, were among her classmates.

The comedies Gidget (1965–1966), The Flying Nun (1967–1970), and The Girl with Something Extra marked the start of Field’s television acting career (1973–1974).
She also appeared in the 1967 western The Way West. She won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie in 1976 for her portrayal of Sybil, which got positive reviews from critics.
She also made her acting debut in Moon Pilot as an extra (1962). Her acting career took off in the 1970s with leading parts in movies including Hooper, Heroes, Smokey and the Bandit, Stay Hungry, and Smokey and the Bandit (1977). (1978). As a result of being typecast, Field had trouble landing acceptable assignments. Field played a frustrated young runaway who returns home with a bearded, drug-abusing hippy in the ABC television movie Maybe I’ll Come Home in the Spring from 1971. (played by David Carradine).
Through the middle of the 1970s, she had a number of guest appearances on television, including one on the hit Western Alias Smith and Jones, which starred her Gidget co-star Pete Duel.
