KL Rahul was born to KN Lokesh and Rajeshwari in Bangalore on April 18, 1992. The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Mangalore is where his father Lokesh, who was born in Kannanur, Magadi Taluk, worked as a professor and former director.
Rahul was born and raised in Mangalore, where he attended NITK English Medium School for high school and St. Aloysius College for pre-university studies.
He began playing matches for both his club in Mangalore and Bangalore United Cricket Club two years after beginning his cricket training at the age of 10.
He relocated to Bangalore at the age of 18 to attend Jain University and further his cricket career.

He made his international debut in 2014, and in the second Test, he recorded his first Test century. The third Indian cricketer to hit a century in all three international cricket formats, he was the first to score a century in his maiden men’s one-day international.
He made his test team debut in January 2022 as a standing captain. In December 2022, after Rohit Sharma suffered an injury, he was also selected captain of the Indian test team traveling to Bangladesh.
Due to several injuries, he had to refrain from playing cricket. With his first century, Rahul ultimately made a comeback on home soil.

In the Test match against England played in Chennai in December 2016, he gave a strong performance. He was on the verge of scoring a double century when he misplayed a shot and was out for 199 runs.
During India’s 2017 tour of Sri Lanka, Lokesh Rahul was used as a test player at position four. It went horribly wrong when he could only score 28 runs in three games while playing this position.
He has been absent from the Indian ODI team since.
